Learn Aikido at The London Aikido Dojo

The London Aikido Dojo was, we are told, opened in a sports centre in Rotherhithe in 2000 and has, since, then grown to become one of the biggest Aikido clubs with in the country.

The club holds classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Bacons College Sports Centre, SE16 and on Sunday mornings at the Tokei Martial Arts Centre, SE1.

Aikido, for those (like your author) who have no idea, is a Japanese martial art often translated as "the Way of unifying (with) life energy" or as "the Way of harmonious spirit.". The art works by redirecting the force of one's attacker rather than opposing it, therefore using less physical energy.

Ten week beginners courses cost £60, including membership and insurance, and are held at the club's main venue, the Bacons College Sports Centre, in Rotherhithe.
