Enjoy a concert in the park

The Royal Parks' summer season of bandstand concerts has begun, with a long summer ahead of weekend concerts in Greenwich, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.

Whilst the regular Royal Parks email is keen to stress that 'there’s music to suit all tastes' the theme is very much brass bands with 19 out of 19 concerts between now and the end of August featuring a brass band.

Nevertheless, it's good clean fun and it's free. And have you ever actually watched a brass band before?

  1. The picture is not of a brass band but a military band (Royal Army Medical Corps)and is taken at the old bandstand near Horse Guards Parade prior to its move nearer to Buckingham Palace in the early eighties. At this time concerts were almost exclusively of military bands. In more recent years they were a mixture of brass and concert bands. park band concerts in the Royal Parks were discontinued in 2011.

  2. Thanks for your input. Sorry to hear park band concerts have been discontinued. As you'll note this article is from 2009.
