One of the regular free open events which take place at the London School of Economics this evening sees Liberty's Shami Chakrabarti and research fellow of the LSE Human Rights Centre Professor Francesca Klug in conversation with human rights barrister Jane Gordon. The event promises to explore human rights through the prism of Magna Carta - which sees its 800th birthday
on Monday.
The lecture will see Klug draw on her book
A Magna Carta for all Humanity Homing in on Human Rights, and Chakrabarti using her considerable expertise to examine issues which are as close to our minds than ever at the moment.

Oh, you have let out the secret - I was hoping to get in! I guess I might need to be earlier than usual. (The talk is in the New Academic Building, though, just around the corner.)
ReplyDeleteThe LSE has a magnificent series of public lectures - for example, last week there was Conor Gearty and others on Magna Carta, and Nick Stern on climate change - and an excellent archive of previous talks available as podcasts.
Well, if you missed it, a podcast and a video of the event are now available. http://www.lse.ac.uk/newsAndMedia/videoAndAudio/channels/publicLecturesAndEvents/player.aspx?id=3128
