Join the London Friday Night Skate

Many readers will have heard of Critical Mass, London's mischievous last Friday of the month cycle ride around town, and whilst in the skating world things are less protest-y, they still enjoy a skate around town, so organise regular street skating events on a Friday night. This evening's London Friday Night Skate leaves from the Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner at 8pm, and is is run by keen skaters. It's a faster, more technically demanding version of the Hyde Park Sunday Stroll which takes place each Sunday.

Last Friday's event took skaters to Turnham Green and back via Old Brompton Road, Warwick Road, Hammersmith, and Shepherd's Bush Green, and tonight's promises a sunset by the river, with a half-time stop at Wandsworth Pier. The distance is usually ten to fifteen miles, on the streets, with volunteer marshals to warn traffic and a portable sound system on a bicycle. It all sounds like great fun if you can skate.
