Light and airy, with seating beside the Serpentine itself, it's a good spot for a cup of tea, a leisurely breakfast, or if you're in the mood a range of wines and beers.
The Lido Café opens at 8am and closes at 7.30pm in May, 8pm in June and 9pm in July and August. For more, see here.
I have been examining how old lidos ended up, 70+ years after they were built and found only a few survive as intended. Others were razed but yet others were converted into modern uses.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for Lansbury's Serpentine Lido in Hyde Park. Do you have an external photo? I would love to see if anything of the old changing block was kept.
Is this one what you're looking for?
ReplyDeleteOh Tom, I am in love. The old changing block in Hyde Park looks as if it was well maintained and modified. When I looked at beach pavilions in Sydney, there didn't seem to be too many left functioning today.
