Thanks to
Ian for reminding us that St Augustine's Tower in Hackney is open today with a chance to climb the 135 stairs to the top of one of the few relics of the ancient village of Hackney, once a country parish.
It is, apparently, one of a regular series of openings, which will continue monthly until at least Christmas, and organised by the Hackney Historic Buildings Trust.

No thanks, I won't climb the stairs. But I love the opportunity to have a good look at St Augustine's Tower, inside and out. When was it built, by the way?
